GA-M56S-S3 (rev. 1.x) and phenom 9850 ? help !

this motherboard doesn't seem to support the phenom x4 9850

from my reading, maybe it's that the system bus is meant to go 4000 with it, and the board seems to handle b3 steppings up to 3600 only

does anyone know if there's no hope, as a friend has that mobo, and is pending buying a very cheap x4 as noted, which won't do if it's no good in the board ?

any advice very welcome

I doubt it, since the board doesn't support NorthBridge at 2000MHz. But other quads like 9750, 9650 etc are good since only the 9850 uses 2000, others are at 1800.

How did it go with this one? Seem a later bios update included the X4 9950, which is similar to the X4 9850. Not sure how well the CPU support list is updated or tested for the older not included CPU in ref to the new BIOS.

The column says N/A for the 9850, but since the 9950 works with bios f6c, might expect the 9850 to work as well.

Possibly they have not tested 9850 with the latest BIOS, thus leaving the status as N/A.
