Are these cpu's compatable?

Postby rickss69 » Sat Dec 19, 2009 3:30 am

Just picked up another mb to try to bench this pile of agp cards I have...http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=AM2NF3-VSTA

I thought these cpu's might work in it, but I may be mistaken (Sempron 140; Phenom 550 BE; Athlon 64 X2 6000). I have been unable to get it to boot so far with the Sempron or the 550. Think the mb may be the problem or the operater lol? Still awaiting the Athlon to try. I need a mb with a agp slot that will accept a decent clocking cpu. Any ideas would be kind.

The 550 is listed as supported as of BIOS rev. 3.00. The Sempron 140 is a newer Sargas chip but is basically a Regor (read Athlon II) w/1 core disabled and seeing as the Regor is not supported until BIOS 3.00 it would stand to reason the Sempy will work w/said BIOS. Sooooo it goes without saying that a BIOS flash may be needed.

The 6000+ should drop in out the box.

Thanks Opty - I will give the bios flash a go then before condemning the board.
