Phenom X6 coming soon?

From what I've read, it's due out in Q3....... But, if history repeats, I'd bet on Q2. And it will be AM3 and possibly AM2+ backwards capable. (depending on MB bios)

I know this may be old news for some, since this announcement was made in September. But I may wait on building a phenom II rig until it is available.

Q2 it will be released. 45nm. It'll probably be called Phenom II with an x6 on the box rather than x4. It should still also carry the Deneb core name. I'm to understand that it won't be going through the same Fab process as the Opterons either. Cheap silicon over insulator to keep the price under 300$.

But who has a board that can handle the 140w TDP @ only 2.8ghz? At 3300mhz, it won't be easy to cool...

Thuban is the core name, and it will be a Phenom II X6. It's 45nm and will be hard work to keep it cool. But, even though it's backwards compatable, I don't know of any AM2+ boards that can deal with a 140w CPU.

One thing to think about! Will X4's, X3's, X2's produced after the introduction be neutered versions of the X6 and be unlock-able? And will a X5 show up?

There's too much at stake for the designers and developers to let any details out,

The future is just going to be amazing,
And I don't know what I'm going to do with additional computing power.
This darn thing is so fast I can't complain about it.

I would like to see a really fast low wattage laptop,
multicore and Advanced graphics with faster memory modules.

Well, don't know if it'll be downwards compatible, but when it comes out I think I'll be looking for X4 price drops Or at least the 550BE and try unlocking that one

If I'm not mistaken, an x6 Will render pretty well. It will score big on these 3dmark0w/e scores. At least until the x6 Intel comes out any ways lol. I've actually seen up to 5 fps during the cpu test with this quad. Not bad..
