So here's a new addition to the playground...
Today I received a cooler destined to replace the stock 7750 cooler. I've been waiting for it a day or so, and couldn't wait but see how it performs. Now, I won't be posting any pictures (simply because I forgot to take any) of it outside the case, but here's some just to see how huge the cooler actually is. It's got a green LED within the cooler which kinda looks nice in the dark.
Underneath you can see how little clearance this cooler has between itself and RAM slots.
So, I've decided to try and get it in without taking out the motherboard. True, I managed, but if you have a midi case like me, take my advice... Pull the board out, or you'll end up having problems with interfering hardware and sped 10minutes just getting it in place.
So, how did it perform? Great! The stock cooler had max load temps go up to 46°C when testing with OCCT. Nothing to brag about, especially if you have the case open all the time. But after putting this beast in, I was surprised to see that under full stress temps were 32°C with fan on full, and 36°C when fan was running at 1300 RPM. That's a big improvement from that stock cooling! Ambient temps are 30-32°C right now, so I'm guessing it can even drop a few degrees during winter.
So, not only does it look really nice (that nickel plating is also a nice touch), but it helps keep the CPU cold at all times. The only problem one might have is the dimensions of this thing. If you have a cramped-up case, mATX motherboard or one of those boards that have the CPU socket near the PSU don't even consider this cooler since chances are you'll have something in your way. But, if you're certain you can get it in, by all means, go get one, it worked wonders for my CPU!
With this thing going for $39.98 and free shipping at the Egg it's a great bargain. But then again, I paid $55 for it here and still think it's a bargain!
Pros:
Works great
"Flashy" green LED
Perfect mirror finish on the base
"Silent mode" is REALLY silent, while losing little performance
Cons:
Might be too large to fit some cases
